May 22, 2026 – Koko Head Elementary School’s Recognition Ceremony
The Sight is Beautiful Poster Contest, sponsored by the Hawaii Lions, encourages elementary school students to appreciate the gift of sight and express that gratitude through art. This year, 104 students from Koko Head Elementary School participated, showcasing their creativity and talent. At the school’s award ceremony on May 22, 2026, the Hawaii Kai Lions honored the 16 outstanding young artists with prizes – including a $20 Longs gift card for each first-place winner.
The Lions also celebrated 25 fifth grade Junior Police Officers, who spent the year arriving early to help keep their classmates and families safe during the busy morning drop off. Their commitment to service earned each JPO a $25 gift card from Gyotaku Japanese Restaurant (thank you, Lion Tom Jones, for the donation) and a $10 gift card from Hammond’s Gourmet Ice Cream (thank you to Hammond’s for the generous discount).
