April 13, 2026 – Kaiser High School Garden Shed Project

The spirit of service is blooming at Henry J. Kaiser High School, thanks to a recent collaboration between the school’s Peace & Sustainability Garden and the Hawaii Kai Lions Club. In a dedicated effort to provide much-needed infrastructure for the school’s expanding garden projects, the Lions purchased and spearheaded the construction of two new garden sheds.
For years, the garden at Kaiser High has served as a living classroom where students learn the intricacies of sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship. However, as the program grew—incorporating advanced techniques like hydroponic systems—the need for a centralized, secure space for tools and supplies became vital.
During the week of April 13, the Hawaii Kai Lions Club (a team consisting of a retired contractor and his three “apprentices”) brought their expertise, labor, and resources to the campus, to bring the two new resin-paneled, 8ft x 7ft sheds to life. The week before, school volunteers were supervised by our Lion retired contractor to build a solid foundation of paving stones and gravel.
On behalf of Kaiser High School, the lead behind the Peace & Sustainability Garden gave a huge Mahalo to all the volunteers and Lions members whose hard work has planted the seeds for a more sustainable future in Hawaii Kai!
