February 22, 2026 – Eyeglass Recycling
On February 22, 2026, 16 Hawaii Kai Lions, 6 Kaiser High School Leo Club members, and 2 Hawaii Kai Lions’ Companions-In-Service (CIS), participated in the annual Eyeglass Recycling Project at the Lunalilo Senior Center Clubhouse. For 3 hours, the Lions and Leos sorted, cleaned, and packed 3,911 eyeglasses, which is 1,000 more than last year. These used eyeglasses were collected from customers who would drop them off at various businesses in the area. After cleaning, 21 boxes full of eyeglasses were dropped off at DHX for shipping to a recycling center in Vallejo, CA, where they will be processed and distributed overseas to areas in need.
