July 9-10, 2026 – Traffic Signal Box Painting
On July 9 and 10, 2026, the Hawaii Kai Lions Club members and family put their artistic skill to work and painted three traffic signal boxes with artwork at the corner of Kalanianaole Highway and Hawaii Kai Drive. This is a follow-up project to the painting they did at the other end of the block at Keahole Street two years ago.
The subject of the artwork was the endangered Alae Ula, Hawaiian Moorhen, which have a small and growing population at the nearby Keawawa Wetland, where the club had volunteered in the past to help restore this water bird’s habitat.
