June 13, 2026 – 53rd Charter Celebration, Officer Installations, and Aloha Party
On June 13, 2026, the Hawaii Kai Lions Club celebrated their 53rd Charter Anniversary at 3660 On the Rise Restaurant. This event was combined with their officer installations and Aloha Party for outgoing President Kendrick Chang. Present were 65 Lions and CISs from their club and also included current and past Lion District Governors, leaders from other Lions Clubs, and the Kaiser High School Leo club president.
After a delicious lunch, Lions Susan Uehara and David Iwana proceeded as emcees of the program, as follows: honoring our Charter Member Bunny Lee, Past International Director Bob Lee presenting the Hall of Fame Award to CIS Carol Wee for her husband, Mervin Wee, Lion Ken Nishibun presenting the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award to Lion Eric Kvick, outgoing President Kendrick Chang providing a reflection on his 2-year term, and then presenting Lion Yolisa Ishibashi with the Lion of the Year Award. The officer installation ceremony was next, with District Governor Sean Benito leading this. The celebration concluded with everyone in a huge circle, singing Hawaii Aloha. Thank you to the Charter Committee for working so hard on this wonderful celebration!
