May 18, 2026 – Foodbank Donation
On Tuesday, May 18, 2026, the Hawaii Kai Lions Club made a $7,200 donation to the Hawai’i Foodbank. One of our club members donated $5,000 and another $2,200 were raised from other club members. According to the Hawai’i Foodbank website, a $10 donation will provide food for 20 meals which equates to 144,000 meals from our donation.
Our club met with the Hawai’i Foodbank Manager of Special Givings, who gave our group a tour of the Foodbank’s facility where non-perishable food is collected, sorted, and boxed for distribution. With the rising cost of food, more people need food assistance. And during the summer, more keiki need food because they are out on summer break. This was a perfect time for our donation!
