October 18, 2026 – Hahaione Elementary School’s Air Conditioning Installation Project
For 11 days in October, 3 dedicated Hawaii Kai Lions and 1 companion-in-service (spouse of a Lion) worked tirelessly for 216 hours in a dedicated effort to improve the daily learning environment at Hahaione Elementary School by installing 22 large window air conditioning units in classrooms at the school. The AC units, purchased by the Hahaione PTSA, benefits approximately 500 students, teachers, and school staff, turning sweltering school days into comfortable, productive learning hours.
Installing close to 2 dozen industrial-sized window units is no simple feat. The project required extensive technical expertise, meticulous preparation, and a massive investment of volunteer hours. Leading the charge was a Lion who is a retired contractor, whose professional background proved invaluable in planning and executing the complex installations safely and efficiently. Working with him were 3 skilled members who helped to complete this tremendous task.
