October 4, 2025 – Kupuna Card Project

The Kupuna (Hawaiian word for elders) Card Project is an opportunity for Lions to gather together to create greeting cards with uplifting messages to make a difference in the emotional well-being of Kupuna in places like nursing homes, assisted living facilities, homebound individuals, Meals on Wheels, etc. This activity increases the visibility of our club in the community and nurtures relationships with their community organizations. The Hawaii Kai Lions Club selected the Lunalilo Home residents as the recipient of our Club’s cards. Additional cards will be donated by Lunalilo Home to their Meals on Wheels partner organization.
On Saturday October 4th, seven Hawaii Kai Lions and three guests gathered at the Mauna Luan Condominium to share their creative talents and make Christmas cards. Lion Marja Leivo provided most of the supplies and materials necessary to make cards and a light lunch. Lion Eric Kvick had pre-cut and designed much of the card stock, which made it easier for all and together we had a lot of fun while producing 48 greeting cards for the Kupuna.
